A house born from the hearth of the kitchen, wide open spaces and vivid life passions. The owners, a wine admirer and a visual artist that live in New York were looking to create a comfortable yet inspiring pied-a-terre in Madrid. With an L-shaped layout and articulated through an exposed staircase, the house’s program is organised by real life functions: self-indulging, sharing and intimacy.
Self-indulging was allocated in the lower level, with the artist’s workshop overlooking two Japanese-inspired courtyards, the wine cellar with a tasting kitchen and the movie theatre. Connected with the swimming pool area, we incorporated a wellbeing area with gym and sauna.
At the entrance level, we find the sharing spaces – to bring people together and host great dinner parties. All living areas, kitchen, dining hall, and living room overflow into the outdoor terrace and garden. The upper levels, house the intimate spaces for sleeping, bathing and working.
